The exhaust is so quiet on my GTA that I can not even hear the engine while I am cruising around with the top down. That will never do.

So I intend to upgrade the exhaust to something that is still not loud, but at least loud enough that I can hear it while I am driving around. That will probably free up a few horsepower too.

What are my header options? It has the stock 390 FE engine with stock headers now. There doesn't seem to be much room left between the stock headers and the shock towers.

You don't need headers if your just after a different "sound" for your exhaust and aren't necessarily looking for more performance...Putting headers on a big block car is a bit of a chore just for a different sound...Is your exhaust totally stock?...A 2 1/2 inch pipe with some good flowing mufflers (I like the flowtech afterburners) I think will get you what you want.

not really looking for a lot of performance gains ... it already lights the tires up easily. maybe later if i get the rims widened and put stickier tires and a traction lock on, then i'll be looking for more power, but right now, i'm happy in that area.

i just want to be able to hear the engine at least a little bit while i am cruising around.

there is so much i don't know yet about this car ... i just got it friday, but i'm pretty sure the exhaust is 100% stock spec, so maybe just mufflers and a crossover pipe will give me the sound i am looking for.

the only other thing i want is to make sure it doesn't have the dreaded drone around 2000 rpm.
