plans for the car include a black paintjob with a gold c stripe. a 351c and a manual transmission. then later moving on to an updated restomod interior and suspension upgrade

i was hoping to get this car to be my fun car, i decided that my convertible was going to be more of a stock car with some tweaks but nothing crazy, so this car will take the mantle of being my play car/autox and race car

put a deposit on the car and once i get paid again i will go pick it up (i got excited about the new truck and bought the c6 reman kit)

and thats not surface rust, its an old brown paint, slowly flaking off

got the fairlane to the shop yesterday, went over to see what it looked like when it wasnt sunk in mud.

c4, full rebuild, transco stage 2 shift kit.

hooker competitions ceramic coated, flowmaster 40 series mufflers, 2.5" by 6" ubend, 10 feet 2.5" piping.
also a performer289 intake and a 670 holley 4 barrel(not pictured)

Transmission is in! got the new c4 in, new starter, ended up wandering around the shop for awhile looking in parts stashes for the random things i need. ended up finding everything but the column shift engine to trans linkage rod and the double ended hook for the ebrake. i know i have a ebrake piece from some random stuff i got from derek, and i think i might have the original end linkage piece from my 70 torino so ill have to look around a bit more.

got it all together, but before i could attempt to fire it up for the first time i had to close shop and get home. the car has no brakes so ill probly give that some attention before i get the engine started.

i looked over the whole floor of this car, everything from the front end, to the torque boxes to the rear quarters and drop downs is rust free

went over to the shop to clean up the engine bay a little try to get rid of most of the spider webs and whatnot

found this little scrape and small dent on the quarter. it was too covered in dirt for me to notice it when i went over it. but its not too bad

got my hood scoop from maier racing the other day. very nice piece of work

shined up the original grill

wanted more than just the all silver look so started out with some tape, wondering what i was going to do

went a bit crazy

and here it is all done, i like it, im going to make my own emblem for the bottom right of the grill

it rained really bad here for almost a week straight. about a 1/4" of water was on the floor board when i came back to it, there was this started to come up. guess ill need to get some seals and get this thing started and covered till i can get the seals

well i had a day off so i got to play on my fairlane for a bit.

old mechanical throttle linkage out and in with the new throttle cable (well one year newer than the old stuff haha. came out of 70 torino)

some new engine upgrades
weind torker (single plain)
650 holley double pump
hooker super comp ceramic headers
some old school finned valve covers

car will now fire up and run just need to tidy a few things up, build or find a throttle cabe bracket, get the trans linkage adjusted, and change the 3 year old oil. get some new plugs, wires and whatnot. get it tuned up and maybe drive it for the next few days

took the magnums off of the vert, they fit but just barely. had to use 2 5/16s spaces just to get the wheels on for now.

getting ready to drive this thing as a daily. threw my magnum 500s on

im getting some pressure through the radiator which i dont like. motor has plenty of power still left in it, definatly feels more peppy than the ranchero does which i like.

brakes finally worn in

added a 1-1/8 front sway bar. fits great!

got tired of that bulky cast air cleaner, found this mustang hipo repop which will do for now

31" radiator (11 inches wider than the original rad) and an edelbrock hiflow aluminum water pump

got tired of doing yardwork, redyed the dashpad and painted the dash and column.

Radiator install is done

Started with an oe bolt to core 69 rad with both hose inlet and outlet on the passenger side...and ended with a nice new shiny radiator.

changed my water pump to an eldebrock aluminum high volume

set in to check fitment

custom brackets with a universal gm insulator...gm finally ended up making something usefull! haha

fin inner measurments fit perfectly in the opening of the core support.

all done. need to get some radiator stays fro the top, im using one off of the 70 vert at the moment.

battery had to moved to the back because of the giant radiator. but hey its no big issue haha.

the new cooling system works great, im no longer getting any pressure through it like i was with the haggard old system and it stays a nice low temperature.

seeing as this is going to be a older car with an updated everything i went with a newer radio and sound system.
so far its only a kenwood excelon deck with 6.5" type r alpine front speakers and type s aline rear 6x9s. it will go further than that though.

fun update.
picked this up off of epay for a decent price. thought it would be nice to have once i put the fuel cell in wont have to fumble for the keys at every gas station.

also got the radiator fully mounted in, and found these radaitor fans on craigslist for a great deal.
also installed the new "washer" coolant overflow fomoco bag

few fun things for the day.

got my new seats in. made brackets so that i can unbolt them from inside the car insead of having to squeeze under the car each time i want to take them out. also will fit the next seats im getting with little to no fabrication.

well today 10/5/2011 was my birthday so i gifted myself with a new set of wheels for the 69 at a very good deal.

bought myself a 351w crate engine! started adding all the parts to it the other day.

all ready to go in

got the final brackets in the other day. and the air cleaner came in as well

i will be using the gold finned valve covers off of my old engine, as well at the edelbrock high volume water pump, valve covers are on to keep everything nice and clean till i get around to tossing it in.

also took me a bit to find a oblong air cleaner that didnt say "mustang" or "cobra" on it, finally got a break and found this one. it will be powercoated next year but for now ill run it.
