wuts up guys, my friends and I are attempting to install the custom headman headers on my 302, and it doesnt seem like it wants to fit. (The pass side has the one tube that goes under the crossmember). Is there any tricks? We needed to semi-pull the motor just to get the collectors to fit between the fender and bellhousing...but when we finaly fit them in, they dont line up with the ports and seem to be pinched between the firewall and the bellhousing...

Aren't you supposed to put the headers in from below?..You may still have to jack the engine a little from side to side but it should be no big deal...Do you have the correct trans in the car?..I heard they take a special small bellhousing for an auto car but I'm not sure about a stick car...My brother has a set on his 78 king cobra and he didn't have any problems.

we tried coming up from the bottom, but it didnt want to happen. I have the stock 4 spd manual. I heard that i might have to repalce a mount or something, but i cannot find anything online to support that.

What I do is take the starter out, and the bolt in crossmember brace. I can slide mine in from under the car. I've got the same ones, they suck, but they're better than manifolds.

Sometimes is best to we keep our mouths shut and have someone think you're a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

The one's I had had a slip connector in the #4 tube as well I cut the head flange and installed the middle 2 tubes then installed the #1 and #4 tubes after. I did have to jack the motor up slightly to get them to slide past though I believe.

I don't know if hedman made two different headers for this application(I doubt it) but my brother's car is a manual trans and the headers fit great.

Hmm maybe i was thinking of another Mustang II owner that had a 302 T5 combo.. I think that the best fitting headers though were the old Cyclone/Blackjack headers. But those havent been made for a long time. Maybe scrounge Ebay for a couple of months.
ALSO ALSO!! I forgot that Hooker Makes some sweet Super Comps that emulate the old cyclone style.
They are pricey though!! @ $400+ Ceramic coat are $620

Good luck and dont let others influence your likes/dislikes

Hotrod Pinto, You go brotha man. Couldn't have said it better myself. I suspect that crammers response hit close to home with you, being a Pinto fan. I bought an 80 Pinto myself a few years ago to hotrod it, but my wife wasted my project fund on bills & food for the kids.
I've always wanted a hotrod pinto - love that 'homely' look.

What dickweed doesn't realize (or maybe he does & he's an even bigger a$$hole than I originally thought), is that folks have very different tastes in cars. Shoot, the folks at CarCraft are hotrodding a Rambler. Myself, I have the worlds second ugliest car - the 66 Ranchero & I love it.

Because they're not face to face, some of these jacka$$es think they can 'talk' to folks in a way they'd never talk to a 'real' person.

Two engine cranes!!??
well glad they fit. And you might want to fab up a little skid plate or something for that header tube that goes around the crossmember.. Hmm then again maybe not
