I am looking at a 79 Ranchero the problem is I hate the look of the front clip. Will the front clip of a 76 work with the doors of the 79. If not I guess I could figure some thing else out, I just don't think I can live with the 79 front end.

The 72/79 RANCHERO was basically the same car except the front clip. You could put a MONTEGO or BIRD clip on it if you wanted to.

Personally, I like the 79 clip. It is an LTD II clip of the period. The 76 grille is too massive in my opinion. But at least you are not contemplating using a CHEVELLE clip... :tup:

actually body lines of '72-'76 are different to '77-'79, but common swaps are 77-9 t bird, 76-9 cougar, 74-6 elite and 72-6 montego, these share bodylines with '77-'79 ranchero.

lower body line is recessed on '72-76 and raised on '77-79, look on either side of the front wheel on this elite swap, rear of fender had to be modified to fit earlier body

...question do i need the whole clip from the t bird or just the nose clip?from the photo looks as if only the nose clip is needed.

You can make do with nose hood and bumper
