Has anyone put an 8.8 rear end out of a Ford Explorer in a Falcon? This might be a dumb question but I need an answer from others more experienced.

Yes, I have.

Cut 3" out of the drivers side tube, bevel the edges and make severel passes with welder to fill it back in. Weld new spring perches on.
Install a extra passenger side axle into the drivers side and your good to go.

And I modified the explorer spring/shock plates.

I did the same as jet. I also got a spring relocate kit from crites and moved the springs inboard so I could do a mini tub so I could fit some 10" wide slicks.

Springs relocated with Crites kit on mine also. Running 275/40zr17 on the rear.

If you go that route, with the Mini tub. Either relocate the frame rails or at least notch them back around where the back inside edge of the tire will rub. I've got just over a 1/2" of tire clearance now. I've got plenty up front to go wider, just not at the rear of the tire.

I just cut the wheel house and pushed it back flush with factory frame rail.
