84 460 motorhome timing?

I just replaced the stock non ajustable holley with a normal holley carb.Nice change highly advised. It runs constant vacuum to the distributor and I was wondering if you can run signaled vacuum from the carb? if so what would your initial timing be and if it is higher will it ping with the advance curve in the stock dist.Anyone change intakes if so any change? Any sugestions on 460s would be great. Vince
