Is there such a thing? My only knowlege about 9" rears are what has been published on thet tech dept's article. Also sometimes I find old trucks that should really have a 9" and instead they have a rear loading axle

It could also be a Dana setup. Is the rear center section round? Or oblong looking with one side much larger than the other? Dana's were one tough as hell rear end, and I believe they had a 9 3/4" ring gear. But the ones in the trucks aren't really applicable for performance usage. If you look at the truck, it's likely a 6 or 10 bolt lug pattern, denoting 1 ton or larger.

I believe some of the late model pickups had a 9 3/4" ring gear...don't think it was a Dana rear, but they're similar. My Lightning has one, so does dad's '00 F150.

Guess it's time to crawl under there & see if it is a Dana.
