95 an 96 ??

Hey everyone, I recently totaled my 95' lx 4.6l v8 thunderbird. I'm looking at a 96' 3.8l lx right now, but the 96' needs a transmission. does anyone know if my 95' transmission will fit onto the 96' and run properly?
