I have a 71 grande with a c-6. ive decided to put some money in it an have some fun. I want to put a new rear end ratio in it because now it has 3.00:1. I dont know what ratio to use. i want to drive it to cruise in on the road an still be competitive at the track. As well im going to swap cams to somthing else as long as some other little things exhaust an torque converter. If anyone could give me some advice as to what ratio they would put in an cam too.

There is a formula(s) to derive what you want. You have to know the RPM, tire size, etc. It should be found om most cam manufacturer websites.

A little more info would be helpful before we can give you any meaningful advice. What engine do you have?..Is it stock? If not what has been done to it?..You say you want to be competitive at the track but against what?..Do you have any ET goals?..Unless you are running a big block my advice would be to get rid of the C-6..It is a very tough trans but sucks up lots of hp.
