This is info from 1999 ... most recent available ...

It shows the percentage of taxpayers (individual people) and the percent they pay (of total Federal income taxes collected)

Wealthiest 1% ... pays ... 36.2% ... of total tax dollars collected
Wealthiest 5% ... pays ... 55.5%
Wealthiest 10% ... pays ... 66.5%
Wealthiest 25% ... pays ... 83.5%
Wealthiest 50% ... pays ... 96.0%

The remaining HALF of taxpayers ... pays ... 4% ... of the Federal income tax dollars collected.

I believe this shows in graphic terms how the Democratic party bases all their thinking.

If they only cut taxes for the bottom 50% it will have virtually zero impact on total dollars collected, but it will buy them (potentially) half of the vote.

Now you couple that with the "Socialist" programs the Democratic party is always pushing ... of which the same (bottom 50%) will be the recipients ... and the Democratic party starts to realy solidify the hold on those votes.

I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to see that it is impossible to conceal that this is one hell of a "Redistribution of the Wealth" scheme .... And that if we as a people (in large numbers) don't begin to see through this problem ... it could lead to some serious problems for our country.

Also do you realize ... The tax relief / economy stimulas package ... Has passed the House of representatives ... The president is ready and willing to sign it ... and there are enough votes in the Senate to pass the bill as well ... it is being held up and kept from a full vote of the Senate by one man (Tom Dashle)... Who represents less than 1/2 of 1% of the US population.

Just thought I'd throw that out there ... take it for what it's worth to you

Larry, you're old enough to remember "Reaganomics". Same thing different decade. I've always been a big fan of standaredized taxation. Tax everyone at the same tax rate. The more you make the more you pay. I don't feel you should be exempt from paying taxes for any reason. No matter how much you make for a living. Even if you only have to pay $10. Everyone should do his share.

Yeap ... And if any of you remember the 1980s and President Reagan ... Hopefully, you realize that Federal Revenues more than doubled after the Reagan tax cuts.

The country ran huge deficites not because of anything to do with "Tax Cuts" (as mentioned revenue more than doubled) Deficites were (amost) a complete result of
Democratic Party "Tax and Spend" practices ... granted a huge amount was spent on rebuilding the militay at that time ... but the point is "Tax Cuts" DID NOT cause the deficits the Democratic Party is now so fond of referring to.

Those taxation figures were quoted by "Sean Hannity" on his radio show about three days ago ...

I don't know the agency that calculates that stuff, but it captivated me enough to write the figures down as I listened.
