Picked up an Older set of Motorsport A460's, I dropped them off to have them flowed with Charlie Evans, he did a little rework to the chambers, valves and valve job and here's the results.

Heads = Motorsport A460
Intake Valve = Titanium 2.40 11/32 stem with Back Cut
Exhaust Valve = SS 1.90 11/32 stem
Average Chamber Volumn is around 78cc's

Heads where Hand Ported by an Unknown Shop and the following represents the average Flows.

@28" H2O with a 4.625 bore

Flow I / E

.100 75.6 / 59.0
.200 151.6 / 120.0
.300 234.7 / 158.4
.400 310.0 / 197.3
.500 368.3 / 235.4
.600 413.1 / 267.0
.700 437.0 / 291.6
.750 442.8 / 303.6
.800 445.0 / 313.8

The Exhaust number appear a little light on the bench because the "venturi" has been removed, this is done to make the head work better and sometimes shows less flow on the bench.


Posted Just to keep you Small Block Guys inline when you think 325cfm is big numbers....:D Keep in mind the above numbers are Good but not Max for the A460 Head Family and their are alot bigger heads avaliable for BBF's.

No, Didn't bother, But I'd Guess a 2 1/4" Pipe would pick it up to the 350 CFM Range +/-

Some more flow numbers for you junkies.

Full CNC Ported (C. Evans) New Style TFS A460's average of all 8 ports.

28" H2O, No Exhaust Pipe, on a 4.625 bore, 2.35 Rev SS Intake, 1.88 Ferrea SS Exhaust, Flowed on a SF600 Bench

Intakes / Exhaust

.100 74 / 58
.200 161 / 118
.300 245 / 165
.400 315 / 200
.500 375 / 235
.600 408 / 267
.700 439 / 294
.750 451 / 303
.800 465 / 312

The exhaust flows are low due to a couple of ridges and I'll post the revised flows later.

Thanks a lot you big jerk! How do you think that makes me feel about my FE heads??? Your exhaust flows more than my intake. What about MY feelings? ;)

i have a 74 460 out of an ambulance and it has close chamber heads with a 2.05 int not shor the exaust factory flat top motor does any one no any specs for these motors i don't have numbes onhand it also had a spread bore intake factory which i thought was wierd

Yeah, the temptation is strong. Should I buy a couple of these assembled heads and get some port work done on them?

Then I could start assembling a 466 or a 501. The low price is freaking me out. I'd only be looking for 650 hp or so. Nothing like yours. This would be for my street car.

I'm really struggling with this as there are now aftermarket FE heads that can flow around 400 cfm. Of course the price would be higher and the motor smaller if I stayed FE.

What a dilema. :confused: :)

Nothing wrong with a hot FE Motor, they just have thier LImits and can be expensive to get into.

That is a great deal on those SCJ's.......They will do 370-380cfm with a modest amount of blending And bowl work. 650HP is easy and a 557 is the same price as a 501....LOL Use the Force Paul !!!

Well I think I'm going to stay with the rebel forces. :) I'd like to get Jim Kuntz to port some Edelbrock Pro Port FE heads for me. Then I'd bump my compression to 11:1 or so, put in a 255-260'ish solid roller, and a ported Victor intake. I think I'd have 650 hp or so. The tradeoff vs. the 460 will be rpm and cost. I'll probably change my mind again next week. :D

With less CFM head flow than you showed here, I had a BB Chevy make 1070 HP with one carb, and 1225 with two carbs, What are you shooting for with your engine ??

In its current trim at 12.2:1 and 528" is making about 905 and 725ft/lb. The heads are a little on the large side for the current build. I had the heads CNC'd and it opend the chambers up a bit and lowered my compression for the intentions of upgrading later.

I intend to open it up to a 572" and put some compression to it, Should go up to about 1025-1050 with a single 4.

How big was your BBC? Sounds like a nice build.
