Physical dimension wise... Are the ports located in the same position. I know that AFR 185's with Hooker Super Comp 6208's will fit in a 66 Mustang....

But will AFR 205's with Hooker Super Comp 6208's fit in a 66 as well?

I ask because I know that the 205's are "raised port" heads.

Does anyone have a 65/66 Mustang with 205's and Super Comps in it?

Your time is appreciated.

Another thing to watch out for when selecting heads is the bolt pattern on the ports..I may be wrong but I think the 205s have the wider than stock pattern on the exhaust ports?...You won't be able to use the 6208s with those.

Thanks for the input. If the AFR185's have the same bolt pattern as the AFR205's... then the 6208's will work.

I believe they have both patterns... stock and wide. However, with the port width, the wider one is better. You may be able to drill you header flange for the wider pattern, then open up the exhaust port to be wide enough for no overlap when using the AFR 205 head. The wider bolt pattern can also allow you to weld up and grind out the "pinch" where the stock pattern is located.

I did some digging online and it appears they do have both patterns..

The 6208s are very tight along the sides of the ports..They actually block off part of my vic jr exhaust ports..If you could get a header with the wider pattern it would be much better...Dennis111 is running a 351 based stroker with those heads in a 65 mustang...I believe he is running accufab headers but you might want to contact him and see what he has to say about them..

I sent Dennis111 a message.

Maybe Vic Jr.'s? Do you have anything bad to say about them?

My AFR 205 have both patterns. Since the exhaust ports are not huge, there is only a little overhang due to the bolts when using the 2" pattern.

Never thought of drilling my flanges to use the 3" pattern and I can see that there would be a benefit. Doubt if it can be done on the front and rear ends of the flange without adding some material, but I'll certainly have to check it out during the winter teardown.

The same headers that fit a Vic Jr will also fit an AFR 205.

Replied to PM.
