Hi

Do the exhaust ports on AFR heads need extra machining? I have recieved a set of 185's and the exhuast ports are sort of "ridged" where they have been machined. I have looked at pictures on the net and it does seem to be common. Is this OK? I havn't seen this before, normally the ports have been machined\polished smooth.
I have attached a picture. not my heads, but it shows the effect perfectly.

That's just the pattern of a CNC cut that finished the port.

You certainly could knock them down with a cartridge roll, it wouldn't hurt but odds are it wouldn't drastically change things either

Remember, exhausts can be smoother than intake, so if you do knock down ports, shoot for no finer than 60 grit on the intake side, and up to 180 on the exhaust.
