Does anyone know if a 2006 Mustang GT 5-Spd (Manual) will fit in a 66 Mustang with a 289, and currently has a 4-speed? I know there are T-5 conversion kits out there, and was wondering if these kits, or a different kit, would allow this to install without having to fab something up (hopefuly someone has already done this). Does anyone know the exact type of transmission in an 06 GT? T-5, T-56? Thanks for the help! Steve

The transmission wont work for you. Its a Tremec 3650. It has a Modular motor bellhousing, so it wont bolt up to your 289.

The transmissions to swap into your 66 are the T5, and if you dont mind cutting your trans tunnel-T56, TKO.

If youre not planning on beating your car too hard, a T5 will last for a long time and make for a nice driver behind your 289.

Thank you for the info, I appreciate it. I'll probably go for the T5, if I do anything. The car is only driven about 3000 miles a year, and we don't race it around, so it sounds as if the T5 is the way to go. Thanks again for your help!
