I'm a newbie and took my first stab at rebuilding ac4 in my 66 mustang. i did not rebuild the valve body, but i did do all the air tests in my shop manual

i cant get it to shift except manually. and i dont think its going into 3rd at all

I've checked the vacumn at the modulator, ok.

i was wondering what i should do next. take out the valve body and look for what? governor?

Thanks in advance for any help

Yo Little fella....

How can you be unsure if it's going into 3rd gear?

Are you referring to it not going into 3rd while on a hoist or while driving? It's a fairly easy thing to do.

Go foreward uphill in1st, then 2nd and you will feel the 3rd shift or at least hear the rpm's drop whn 3rd comes into play if it is at all, but it's normally really easy to tell then your car don't go into 3rd...

55mph is making the engine do about 5,000 rpms in 2nd gear... which would definitely get your attention...
