Has anyone done this safely? If so, how?

Thanks!
If they are like a 62 Fairlane the skinny trim pries out. The 62 trim is held in by expanding wire. If you could get your hand up under, you can feel the two spring like wire. Press them together and they will pull through the mounting hole.

The trim around the radio and heater is screws on the outside and is connected to the heater controls, that have to be removed first.

That is, if your car is like the 62.... If it is, you can feel them behind the dash. Hope this helps. But, there may be someone on here that knows for sure... Chow.

I just took the dash apart in my 67 which should be identical. It was straight forward. The head light switch has a liltle ring that is kind of a pain and has to be unscrewed but other than that easy.

Not having a pic I can only guess. The knobs on the slider controls are removed with a teensy hex wrench.
