Only if you don't like to manually shift it all the time and don't like hard shifts. One thing I do is I hook up the modulator to vacuum so it will shift automatically in "drive" but you'll need to modify the little rod so it shifts at a lower RPM at part throttle if using a large cam with little vacuum but if you need to, cut 2 rods and have them welded together so the new rod is longer than the stock one and try it. Keep gringing it down little by little until the desired part throttle shift points are where you want them. The Transpack says to leave the vacuum line off and plug the line but I don't.
what i was thinking was to cut some holes in the bottom of the stock pan and cut another pan in half(case fill one) and add that to it. That way i can use the stock filter and dip stick(its a pan fill trans)
You really do need the filter to extend to the bottom of the pan so there is no chance of it sucking air. There are a couple different types. One of the holes you cut just has to line up with the filter extension.
