I have a 66 Galaxie 500 and I decided to use an electric fuel pump instead of the mechanical fuel pump. The pump manufacturers said that the pump needs to be at the same level as the bottom of the fuel tank and within about 2 feet of the tank. It's a push-type pump. I couldn't find any spot that was within 2 feet and below the tank. I was wondering if anyone had any good spots to put it?
Though I did find a spot that is more or less three feet away. Would that be alright? Or would it be best for me to get a pull-type pump?

So anywhere below the sending unit is ok? Not necessarily at level with the bottom of the fuel tank?
Level with the sending unit, the pump has to suck fuel thru the tank uphill a foot or so. Maybe if the pump is level with the bottom of the tank it gets that energy back via a siphon-type action. I'm speaking as a non-physicist :)

This thread (below) shows where I put mine. Sorry it’s a long thread - I think the fuel pump info is on p3. I have two pumps but the location will work for you.

You don’t say why you are switching to electric. For a stock-ish engine the stock Ford mechanical pump is fine and they are not expensive. Easier than mounting an electric pump and running wires etc.
