Hi

I'm a UK member and am currently building a 347 stroker based on a 1986 302W block. I have been recommended to use a Holley 670cfm "Street Avenger" carb with this set up, but am not sure about the best manifold to use. I was considering an Edelbrock RPM.
Any advice appreciated.

I would agree that the Performer RPM is a great all around manifold for the street. The carb may be too small unless the build wasn't for performance. If everything is set up right and you plan to make any kind of power you'll probably want to go bigger like a 750cfm carb. It depends on a lot of things in the engines design, car weight, gearing, transmission type and what you plan to do with it.

I would agree that the Performer RPM is a great all around manifold for the street. The carb may be too small unless the build wasn't for performance. Hi John

Thanks for the reply. The engine is going into a Cobra Replica so there is no weight to worry about! I'm not really looking for out and out top end performance, but more interested in street useability and bags of torque.

Then I would go with a 750 if the cam, heads, etc can handle it. Let's hear your engine specs for a better recommendation though. The more info shared the better answer you'll get.

With a car that light it's not going to take a bunch of power to make it quick and fast but I'd assume you'd want to get every bit out of it, otherwise why even build a stroker in the first place?

Thanks for the reply.

The block is an 86 302W machined to take a roller cam. Over bored by .030. Going to stroke it to 347 which will be a Scat 9000 series crank, KB pistons, really not sure about the cam but I need to be able to drive the thing slowly as well as quickly so don't want it too "lumpy". I am also looking at AFR heads but not sure between 165 and 185. Will need to take advice on these. I will put a Tremec TK 600 gearbox on it.
This is all in its infancy as I have only just got the block, hence all the questions.
I find the forum really helpfull so I have a lot of reading to do!!!

By the way the Falcon looks fabulous!!

Air Gap intake , Performer RPM or the Stealth will all work well for the intake. AFR 185 heads or Trick flow 185 heads.

Edelbrock air gap (waist of 100.00 more) than a RPM. They both flow a best of 150 to 170 depending on runner. Stealth about the same but larger plenum. Torker II and Vr Jr both flow about the same at 190CFM give or take good runner bad runner. This is air flow bolted to cyjinder head. They all reach max flow around .500 lift on well ported factory heads. Even tested them on a Canfield head ported to flow 340 CFM.

I would suggest the 165 heads for a 347, Torker II intake if hood clearance is a issue. Cam about 225 duration @ .050 and lift of .520. I like the Quick Fuel street / strip carbs as all the metering ofices are changeable.
Suggest vacuum secondary for a 750. Double pumper 650 or 700. Carb partly depends on cars weight.
Suggest 3.90 gears with 26.5 ish dia tires.

Edelbrock RPM Air gap on my 347 with Comp. roller -223/223 @ .50 with .560 lift

Heads- Edelbrock - 1.90's/1.64's & slightly massaged due to condition they came in right from Edelbrock
670 Holley ultra - made 425hp/408ft.lbs
Power starts dropping off at 6600rpm, Shop says i;d have more HP with a bigger carb, suggested a 750 Holley
