Just wondering whats involved in putting a 390/428 into a '68 Fairlane conv't.
It's a factory 289 car, manual steering, power disc brakes, frame is solid, front suspension is new w/620lb coil springs and the front end could sit a little lower.
Torque boxes look good, and I've already put sub-frame connectors on it.

How hard is it to fit a C6 trans. in it, I've already converted the column shift to console mount B&M so linkage isn't an issue.

I guess I'll need to swap out the 8" rear end, it's a new 3.55 posi unit but I heard they're only good to about 400hp?

Pretty easy! Just get a set of FE engine mounts from any '66-'69 Fairlane, Torino or Comet. There are a totla of 6 pieces. A frame mount for each side, an engine mount for each side and an isolator for each side. You'll need a C6/4 spd crossmember. FE's have a much different battery tray but that can be worked around

thats great to hear, the little 302 is runnin great but doesn't have the low end I'm lookin for. I'm plannin on moving the battery to the trunk anyway.
What about headers? Only set I've seen are for small blocks, seems like it's gonna get pretty tight in there.
