I have a question and probably won't get an answer on this one due to being unique.

Here's the appication, 1962 Galaxie with F-100 Booster (71 I think) and a 76 Cougar master and running 76 Cougar front 11' discs.

Here's the problem, Brakes stop fine, no air in system, rears have been bled and shoes adjusted and about a 1/2 free play (travel) in brake pedal, Pedal height is lower than the the old system when stepping on the brakes.

I take the travel is more in the cougar master than the old jelly jar and thus causing the problem. I did not have an original power booster for my 62 in order to compare travel. If memory serves me correct, wasn't there an arm on those boosters to increase the travel to the booster? I have my booster connected directly via pedal rod only.

Guess's

On the 64's there was a pivot type bracket that did lower the position of it and they used a different brake pedal arm. Hope this helps

Sleepysal,
Looking through my parts CD on exploded views, your right! the arm works with a fulcrum lever which would enact probably 50% less travel. Looks like I will need to replace boosters. Does anyone know if say the Bendix type found on the 63-64 will work in place of the Midland Ross found on the 61-62 just to give me some alternatives.

I bought a booster that came with firewall mounts and all from a place in California. Super sweet setup! I think the place was called Drop-n-stop but I can't remember for sure and can't find it on the internet either. Sorry. I did try numerous other setups before I finally got tired of trying to stop the car ala Fred Flintstone and ponied up the money. Glad I did.

Looks like I'll probably fork out some hard earned money on the booster. Phalanx just posted a nice looking booster but I think the bolt pattern is for a Corvette master. Hate to throw away my new Ford master. Brakes work great and stops on a dime (as old Sam used to say) but it's the brake travel issue that bugs me.
