So when installing the grease fitting in my idler arm it snapped off at the base. I, foolishly it seems, used an extractor to try and back the grease fitting base out. THAT broke off as well leaving me with a fun little mess. I talked to a guy at a local machine shop and he says that I'm basically screwed. Any thoughts?

Try a reverse drill bit. Might screw it out.

Maybe take a dremel tool with small cutoff wheel and cut slot into stub of extractor/fitting? then use straight screwdriver? If the cutoff wheel for dremel is to large dia wear it down some. Have done this before for small broken bolts.

good luck with it.

I like the reverse drill bit idea.

Long shot, but would this grease needle allow you to add some grease through the broken zerk hole (that is now larger) or under a boot?
