That is a big cam :O solid lifter? flat or roller?Called BRC on the pistons
15cc dome
1.786 compression distance
bore is 4.10
stroke is stock 390 3.78
Are you going to detune it at all or keep it as is?The cam is a solid flat lifter.
Block gets dropped off tomarrow.
plus .060' over makes it "pretty big" ?That is a big cam :O solid lifter? flat or roller?
The 390 had a stock bore of 4.052, so it looks like your block has been bored pretty big.
How did the block turn out? was it damaged at all?
What are your plans for it? street it? or race it again?
Tell me how many/much more overbore he can expect before he has to sleeve at least a couple cyls.plus .060' over makes it "pretty big" ?
Any machine shop should have one. If you can't, I am sure someone on the forum here has one they can sell. are you looking for anything special? or just a stock cast unit.Block is good to go. just going to do a quick hone. now i need to find a crank.
You might want to look up a member "rcode427" (I think that is his screen name) I am pretty sure he will have something along those lines.would prefer forged but if all i can find is cast that's what i will use.
you tell me how much the block Had to be bored to correct wear .Tell me how many/much more overbore he can expect before he has to sleeve at least a couple cyls.
.060 over is about the max safe overbore for most 390's. OP says all it needs is a hone this timeyou tell me how much the block Had to be bored to correct wear .
what if it needed .060' over ?
tell what you would have done with the block . srap it ? srap it so you could get one or two more borings out of another block ?
when you learn about building (not bolting parts togther) engines and parts you'll know ..060 over is about the max safe overbore for most 390's. OP says all it needs is a hone this time
It's been bored out to about the max and that to me is a big. W/O sleeves, tell me how to get around that to correct wear.
if it needs more, and will be run hard... its up to the owner and the sonic test to see if it will hold up. more likely than not there will be thin spots. 390 blocks are cheap, cheaper than chewing up the rest of the motor over. and cheaper than 8 sleeves.
OP told us the information.when you learn about building (not bolting parts togther) engines and parts you'll know .
I don't know the history or the build specs of the 390 .
How Do you know what they are ?
make the comment ..OP told us the information.
Do explain what I need to know about building before making an arrogant comment
So you know it all. Too bad you never give detail info.make the comment ..
then , you should never have to ask a question on engines .
then on all engines questions , you can be the first poster with correct detailed info
thats the comment !So you know it all. Too bad you never give detail info.
thats the comment !
no I don't no it all . I do know way , way more that you .
do know that you make like you know ..
when the detail info is required , its given
