How can I tell what year C4 I have by the ID tag? The tag reads:

PEE AC1
D0ZPB B 2C

I have no idea what type of vehichle this came in originally. It has the smaller 5 bolt bellhousing on it.

Thanks!

Well the D0ZP stand for D0 > 1970 and the Z is for Mustang and the P is for automatice transmissions from what I have seen.

Possibly someone has change the bell housing if it is 5 bolt.

you can count the splines on each end of the input shaft. should be 26 on converter end and 24 on other end (might be 26 and 26 there was one year they did this). Look for other casting numbers that would be like C8 or C9 or D0. Or the tag on the vavle body might show D0.

26 splines on each end...

Cast into one of the servo covers is

CGAP-7D027-C

And on top of the tranny, just forward of the tailshaft housing is:

OFG 1985

Also, the vent is on the tailshaft housing. Seems like I saw somewhere that that was an indication of production years?

Thanks again!

Seems like 1970 was the only year where both ends of the input shaft was 26 splines. Not sure if this had to do with maybe weakening the area around the peanut holes or not.
