I bought a c4 a few years ago and I am finally getting around to installing it. I have a 1990 GT, it had a T-5 now going to the C4. I got everything installed, made a new cross member got it all bolted in and everything. I looked at the driveshaft and it seemed too short. When I bolted it up to the Dif, there was a lot of the slip yoke sticking out of the tranny. So I figured I needed a longer driveshaft. First I marked the slip yoke at the seal with the driveshaft bolted to the dif. Then I un-bolted the driveshaft and pushed the slip yoke into the tranny, not so it bottomed out, there was about an inch left of the slip yoke showing. Then I had a measurement for how much longer I needed my driveshaft to be. So I took the driveshaft in to have it lengthened and they took it, took my measurement, and went ahead with it. They told me that the U-joint hole in my slip yoke was wrecked so I needed a new slip yoke, I said fine. I get the driveshaft back and its got this monster slip yoke on it. Big solid flange in front of the U-joint. Well it looked like it would take some abuse. I got it home and the slip yoke didn't fit inside the tranny. The OD of the slip yoke was 1.6, I measured a stocker and it was 1.5 (all dimensions in inches). I took it back and they told me they could fix it but they would have to cut the U-joint end off the driveshaft and put a new U-joint receiver on the driveshaft side. Great so I go pick up the new new driveshaft and now it is too short. I have another stock one laying around and the new one is shorter than that. I guess my question is do people get new driveshafts made when they do this swap? Does anyone know the difference in slip yokes and the length from the center of the U-joint hole to the front of the slip yoke for different slip yokes? To make a long story even longer, the shop that made the driveshaft doesn't want to fix the problem here, rather they want me to pay for another driveshaft because they feel like I didn't give them the right information to start with. I'll keep you posted on this stuff and rest assured if this shop does not work with me I will light them up on every message board and there will be legal action.
