G,day,
Have a race car with a fwd pattern pro ratchet in it, footbrake deal.
I want to set up 2 different shift points with the tacho and need a switch when in first gear only, looking at tiny micro switches etc,
has anyone done it or can you get a good quality shifter with one allready there?
Thanks very much!

Hi Paul - welcome to the forums. Yes, we've done that. 1st gear on FWD shifts is easy as the switch goes smack in the back of the shifter so it's tripped with the handle all the way back. Another way we've done it (if you're not using the stock neutral safety switch) is to make a pair of tabs so you can unbolt the neutral safety switch and rotate it around to trip in first gear. Secure it with the original bolts and new tabs. I used this method years ago to enable nitrous in first gear only.

I'm experimenting soon with late-model shift-position sensors to detect every gear for boost-by-gear, custom shift points and other EFI functions, and if it works well I'll post the results.
