Have just finished building up a C4 with manual VB and 4000 Hi Stall convertor. It all works great apart from a whinning sound when the engine is revved hard and under load in all forward gears and reverse. But there is no sound when in park. Is it normal for a hi stall convertor to make this sound?. I thought the sound might have been the pump gears but it doesnt do it in park. Any suggestions?

I just had the same thing. Check your pump, then any clearance issues with the starter, flexplate, etc. If everything is o.k. check the filter. I know, this sounds corny but the guys at p.a. performance told me a dirty filter will do this on some c-4's. Mine was LOUD. All I did was change converters. I had another one sent. Did the exact same thing. Then the tranny would'nt shift anymore automatically. It was FULL of metal. And not from the tranny. It was the converter. Tried my old one back in and it the noise went away and it pulled hard again. Sent both of the P.O.S. converters back. Got a Coan and went through the tranny to clean it all out. Wala! No noise and it pulls hard again. Called the company, they wouldn't do SH*T for me! NEVER buy a PTC converter!!
Which is where P.A. gets theirs from.
