Hi guys.
Many years ago I bought a C6 that had had the kick down removed. That wasn't an issue because it was going in a vehicle with narrow chassis rails and there wouldn't have been room for it anyway. The previous owner had blanked off the hole with liquid steel, see photo

I've had to remove the shaft because it has developed a bad oil leak so I was thinking I should make a permanent repair to it.The thing is will I be able to mig weld the hole up or will it be hardened steel and not weld ? What do you think ?
Also there is only 1 seal in the outer casing, see photo....should there be a seal on the inside too ?

Cheers

Only the one seal in the trans case.
If you had the KD linkage there would be a small O-ring where the KD shaft passes thru the plugged hole.

If the original liquid steel plug is not leaking, I'd leave it alone.

Those linkage shafts are somewhat fragile to begin with.
Welding on the shaft could cause more problems than it's worth.
Warpage, out-of-round and not go back in the case, make it brittle and prone to breakage, etc...
