This of course only effects Californians (what's new huh?) but could be a matter of time in other states also.

The ARB Air Resources Board (of California)has proposed regulations that will drastically affect the efficacy of brake cleaners, carb or fuel injection cleaners, engine degreasers and general purpose degreasers. The regulations they want in place will drastically affect the do-it-yourself car owners who need these products to maintain thier vehicles.
ASPA represents the companies that make these producta and have tried to work with the ARB to keep this from happening; however the ARB has refused to compromise on its proposals. The industry has already reduced emissions from these products and has offered to do more.

One step closer to the "disposable vehicle" as envisioned in the 1970's.

The concept comes in several parts; this news is only part of the plan.

The Locked hood, similar to electronic appliances is another piece of the pie. Look for a notice soon that states something like .... "Beware - no user servicable parts inside. If this unit is not working correctly, please see your authorized ________ (insert name of automobile manufacturer) for service. You may even need a special tool to open the hood of your car.

Better yet, at some point, you may need a license to even purchase mechanics tools; requiring proof of attendence and successful completion of a course of study in automobile servicing at a trade school or college.

Don't laugh...the already require high school students to attend authorized Drivers Education classes, if they want to drive before 18. The name of the show is "As the noose tightens".

Getting rid of maintenace chemicals is easier to do, since only low income non-voters or fanatics actually work on their own vehicles...right?

Me thinks - Thou doth protest too much ... California has its problems, granted; but most of us left the South and Midwest for very good reasons. Much as I like to go back home to visit, everytime I leave - its with a sense of relief.

The funny thing, all the relatives want to visit California, then complain when the go back. Even after the 3 or 4 visit...

Kaliphornya USED to be a nice place to live.
It still has the very best weather and year-round climate of mild conditions. But thats about all it has left in its favor.
Everything here is expensive as hell.....homes, taxes, gas, insurance, food, everything!!
Crime is out of control....and our culture has been replaced with that of Mexico.....trashy, dirty, and hostile.

Anything having to do with the automobile is now frowned upon because its not politically correct to cherish the "gross polluter".
We have lost more of our dragstrips in the last 20 years, than most midwestern states ever had to begin with.
There are only a handful left, and only a few of them are open to regular street/bracket racing. Otherwise, racers have to go to the streets.

Theres no saving this place, its too far down the toilet to retrieve now.
Cant wait til I get out of here!!

The beach, that's about it, the only reason I go there actually. If it weren't for all the Californian's moving to AZ and driving up the real estate market I would own my own home by now.

I don't blame them though. Houses there are insanely expensive unless you want to live in a terrible neighborhood. I heard that 60 year loans are becoming more common there too.

Then there's gas/food/... hell every commodity you can think of is more expensive. Then their government has nothing better to do than enact the most rediculous and strict laws of any state, don't forget all the money they spend testing every single product known to man for causing cancer.

But the weather is nice, I'll give them that.
