How about "retarding " your current cam for some deg ?
Is it a way to go also ?

Also be sure that the cam's lift is a little more than the flow "sweet spot" of your heads.

Say for example, your heads peak flow is [email protected], a cam with .520-.530 lift would do the trick. You want the valve to catch two points on the flow curve.

To move your torque range to a lower rpm, in effect creating a "smaller" cam, you would want to advance the cam, not retard it.

Check your cam card, as many cams are already ground with around 4 degrees of advance when they are installed straight up.

Any time you advance a cam, recheck your valve to piston clearance as it will be reduced.
