suggestions for cam/intake..
trying to get a little more get up n' go for my 66 mustang
wanna get as much out of it as i can.

going on a 71 302 engine with stock heads.(and internals i can only assume is stock since i've never taken the engine apart and previous owner could not give any info on engine either, other than it had had a cam change before).
4 barrel holley carb
performer intake
hooker super comp headers,long tube.
2.5 inch exhaust.
got a T5 with 3.55 gears

looking for decent powergain and a little more character to the idle/exhaust..

also a better intake..
what kind of numbers could i get from such a swap?
thanx

A good dual plane intake rated at about 5500 RPM and a cam that has SAE duration (at .050) of 212 to 216 should give you all that those stock heads can handle. For the street a 6-700 CFM carb with vacuum secondaries (Holley 4160). The smaller the carb (down to 600) the better your throttle response will be but your acceleration will be best with one closer to 700 or even 720 CFM (note: the Shelby Mustang 305HP 289 used a 780 CFM with vacuum secondaries).
