Yes, they're allot stronger then people think. They also use the same axles the 9" 28spline diff uses.

I have run my 8" on the current 351w roller and last yr on a 393 sflat tappit solid stroker.
I run 4:11 gears and a mini spool. Have 275/50 -15 Mickey Thompson ET street radials on it currently. I leave the line with the whells 6" off the ground.
The 8" will do fine if you do not wheel hop them to death.

Friend had 8" mini-spool w/ 4.10 gears w/ about 350hp on street tires don't remember the size and it held
up fine for several years.

thanks for the reply's. I will definitly stick with the 8" for now. Hopefully it will be on yhe road this summer!!!!!!

8" with a detroit and a decent 351w (now a 40

and havent had a problem yet. I launch it hard quite often too.

Snaped a driver side axle with a 351w and 275/60/15 radials on the street. I now am upgrading to dutchman 31 spline axles and a detroit locker in my 9".
