take the electric one out. You cant suck gas trrough the electric.

I pulled through one on my '64 T'bird 390. Had a FP go bad on the bird and installed an electric back near the tank while out in the desert... later that week I replaced the bad pump on the block and switched off the new electric but left it there. Pulled through it fine up to about 90 mph then it started to stumble.

It WON'T pull through an in tank type carter fuel pump very well though....
