I have a set of BF-42 spark plugs that I had purchased on E-Bay. They are in the original box and are mint. Have never been installed. Is there a way to test them or should they just be put in to my 289 and give them a try.

Cheers

If they look ok just run them.

If they are new then look closely to make sure the porcelain isn't cracked and run 'em.

Testing with ohmmeter is useless

Oscilliscope is only way to test and even then it's not easy

Yes! remove the longest plug wire from your old spark plug, then fit the plug to be tested in to the plug wire. Next have someone you don't like hold the plug between their thumb and middle finger and place their other hand on the engine block. Then simply crank the car over. If they curse, scream, and ruin your new plug by slaming it in to the engine, then it was fine!!
