Help me guys.
289 c4 , Eldelbrock carb, Mallory Electronic Dist. I rebuilt the Trans. It had seemed to be running ok. But stalling when coming to a stop. While taking it to get exhaust work done it was missing some on acceleration. Had the Idle set at 600rpm and timing set at 6BTDC. Went to pick the car up and it dies when I put it in gear.
Any suggestions?

Try incresing Idle and readjust the carb.. when the exhaust went on it created some back prusher and is slowing the idle down.

I would try more initial timing as well. I have a similar setup and run 18 initial timing.
