i'm working on a cammed 390 with a Holley 750.

the carb hisses at idle. i can't decide if its the air slipping past the butterflies, or a vacuum leak.

it doesn't *act* like it has a vacuum leak...it idles nicely at 800rpm in park, and 600 in gear. idle vacuum is fairly steady at about 13.

if i open the throttle just a bit and hold it steady, the hiss goes away (this is what made me wonder if its just air slipping past the butterflies.)

thoughts?

thanks-

Sounds pretty normal to me. I had a carb hissing at me but it was a GILA MONSTER under the car, didn't like the fact that his tree was rumbling!! Such is life in Arizona. At least it wasn't a rattlesnake!!
