I have a 351c 2V. I can pump the gas a few times and the car will fire right up. But as soon as that gas is burned up the car will die out. If I hold the choke plate almost all the way closed it will sit there and idle very slow but as sson as I let the plate go and it opens back up she dies right back out. What could be the cause of this?

Dirty carburetor and idle circuts....

Clean it.

Get a $25 dollar gasket kit with new ball bearings and accelerator pump and whatnot along with a can of carb cleaner, and clean it.

Big vacuum leak or most likely needs carb overhaul. Have you tried backing out the Idle mixture screws?

I'd say the carb as well needs cleaned.
If you are a novice don't sweat it, the carb kit well most likely have a diagram (exployed view). and just watch where all the parts come from, not that many.. There is one part that has a ball baren in it. its in the top of the carb inside the ventura's. when you take the screws out and take the part out when you turn it upsidedown the baren well fall out. So after you take the part out (I know I may be confueing you but I don't know how else say it ) turn the carb upsidedown with your hand over it so the baren falls out into your hand...
You know I think I better shut up I'm starting to confuse myself....

Hey guys. I put a kit in today and she will keep running now . A 100 percent improvement. Thank for the advice. It still runs a little rough, chugging and burning fuel in the pipes but I will work on that later and be satisfied with my work today. Once again, thanks.

It'll take some tuning to get it back to normal since you opened it up, but its good that you got it running!

Now just tweak he a bit and change your oil in case there's a bunch of fuel in it.
