How often should you change the fluid?

I am about to install fraishly cleaned and painted housing, thinking about adding a drain plug to bottom before I install.

Anyone do this, or is it a waste of time?

Yes definitely put a plug in.Just drill/tap housing for 1/2" UNF and use a engine sump plug.

Yup... its easy and makes life a whole lot easier down the road.
Drill it, tap it... flush it with diesel and install the plug and new fluid.
