Clutch pedal sticking to the floor at hi revs -Anderson Ford Motorsport Hi-Rev clutch

This clutch is advertised good for shifting as high as 7600 without pedal sticking to the floor.
I experienced this phenomen last summer while power shifting my 393 at 7000 rpm.It was a weird feeling -felt like the cable was completely broken. After a couple of seconds it worked again like nothing had happened.
I have been considering this AFM HiRev clutch but dont know how smooth and streetable they are. I am having about 550 hp at the moment and hopefully some 580 coming season.
I have run both Centerforce DF and Zoom HP and they both make a good, smooth street clutch. Hope the AFM is the same. Any info?

Sounds like you have over-extended the fingers?

What type of clutch do you have...Longs, Borg and Beck, diaphragm?

The modified diaphragm, like the Centerforce have weights on the plate to tighten the clamping force (much like the longs style), while using less pressure for "lighter" resistance in normal driving. The weights make up for the weaker spring return... best of both worlds, lighter clutch and more clamp force, less slip at higher rpm.

However, if the plate goes over center, it is just as possible the weights will fight against the springs, acting to keep the clutch from re-engaging. Your shift limit is close enough to the rpm limit of the clutch (7K vs. 7.4K) to make it possible that you need to look into a different style of clutch or customizing the one you have (with greater spring pressures). You have to admit, your configuration is right at the upper edge of the line where you can still use "stock" hi-performance parts or need to start looking into custom made parts. Your days of "off-the-shelf" High performance clutch components, may be coming to an end?

Check with a couple of the clutch companies. See if they have a different take compared to my amateur diagnosis?

I am using diagram clutches. Ford Motorsport King Cobra, Centerforce Dual Friction and now Zoom HP series.
These have worked good for the application.Ok, discs only last for 2000 miles or so.It was only last summer I got the problem with pedal sticking.
You´re propably right at being at the edge...and more so coming season with targeted 580 fwhp...

the only last 2000 miles of regular street driving?

Yeah , 2000 miles ...but hardly "normal" driving...

Ok, got my new Anderson Ford Racing Hi-Rev clutch.Will take couple of months before it will be testing time...along with new Super Victor intake, 825 Mighty Demon and one step wilder roller cam

May want to check and see if there is a spring on the pedal assenbly. Ive seen this happen alot on the older Dodge Hemis. They would put a spring on the pedal when using the old 3 finger clutches so the pedal wasnt a ton to push. When going to a diaphram style you will need to remove the spring.
Dont know if this affects you or not. Just a suggestion.
