Does anyone know where i can get a set of TALL "Cobra Powered by ford" black wrinkle Valve Covers. I have the matching air cleaner and oil pan and don't want to mix it up.

I just installed roller rockers and need the clearance.

The only ones I've seen are "'COBRA' “POWERED BY FORD” OPEN LETTER ALUMINUM FINNED NATURAL FINISHED “TALL” for like $175.00 and i donlt really want to buy the one inch spacer.

I removed the splash shields from mine, and Crane rollers fit fine under them. I haven't have any problems with the shields not being in the covers. Just turn them over and cut off the heads of the small rivets used to attach the splash shields.

How long have you been running that application? I did the same thing but have not run the engine yet. I was going to fab a new low profile baffle in its place. I was told by others that with out the baffle you would have a mess on your hands with oil seeping out?
I have a set of the Powered by Ford covers (with out the black in the fins) I picked up at a swap meet before I built my engine. Got them for 25.00 and spent very little time to polish them up. I was determined to use them since I like the look and did not want to use the standard cover I see that everyone seems to use to cover their roller drive train.

I had the same issue when installing roller rockers under my Cobra valve covers. I just used two gaskets under each cover with gasket cemet between them.

I bought them to use era/stock sized Holman Moody 302/351W Valve Covers myself..and they are the Cats Ass.

No hacking on your valve covers..no added goop.

You won't be dissapointed with the look or the results.

DeltaBay are great folks. Tom Cruz is a great guy and an avid racer. Good ford folks to deal with, they know damn near everything.

I've had no problems with the baffles removed, and I'm running a high volume oil pump as well. I don't use the car as a daily driver, just messing around on weekends etc. NO long freeway runs, but it's not setup for that.
If you drive it alot and are worried about it, the above mentioned 1" spacers are a good idea.

Yeah, I was familiar with the spacer route, just could not justify the 125.00 price tag it at the time since I only paid 25.00 for the covers. The spacers will also require an extra set of gaskets to seal them.
I agree the folks at Delta Bay are great and local here in Los Angeles.

Hey Man,

Delta Bay Mustangs carry two types of Spacers fromBlue Thunder. One type requires the extra gaskets you mentioned...and the other has an integral seal , that only requires the one gasket that you would need anyway.

Give Tom a call....He'll put you on the money as to what will work best for your application.

BTW...The prices are different..but if you elect for the cheaper one that requires the use of extra gaskets?...the price will be made up in gaskets , potential leaks and a sloppy look possibly.

I scoped out all the Blue Thunder distributors on their website..and one was Holman Moody in my own home town...Delta Bay had me in the hunt in minutes and at a cheaper price.

BTW...a number of the Blue Thunder Distributors listed on their website..are No Longer Blue Thunder distributors...so take some friendly advice on whom to contact...It will save you some leg-work and some money.

Tom or Zee will even e-mail you a UPS Tracking Number for monitoring the shipment.

I think the double gasket worked. I have .586 of lift with Harlman sharp 7/16 roller rockers and the old Cobra Valve covers fit and I don't here any rubbing. Need to mark the inside somehow to just make sure, but so far so good. I haven’t been on the street yet awaiting exhaust.

You'll hear it if they are hitting.I removed the baffles from a set of chrome 289 Hi Po covers and the oil came out of the oil filler spout pretty bad.I had to make a new low profile baffle.

I have double gaskets under my cobra powered by ford covers with edelbrock heads and 3/8" crane 1.6 magnums, I used plyers to remove the baffles and they touch with single gaskets but doubles works ok

I've heard of people doing the baffle delete and having oil come out of the spout as well. Those folks had mentioned going to a Moroso baffle that goes in the spout. They said it worked for them so I bought one, but have yet to test it.

An old trick is to lay tin foil(oven cooking foil) over the rockers a few times then turn the engine over by hand, any contact will show on the foil-old circle track trick for windage trays.....
