I have a z code 64 Galaxie. Engine and heads are not original but close. 61-2 390.

I want to add classic auto air. They however leave it up to you to figure out pulleys. Car is one belt to the generator only. No factory power steering or ac. I would love to add power steering but it seems either, expensive to do easily. Or very difficult to do cheaply. I want AC more. So I’ll give in to that for now. As a GM guy it’s shocking to me that there isn’t an easy retrofit junkyard integrated power steering box. Want to upgrade my 67 Firebird? Just go snap a Jeep Grand Cherokee or Monte Carlo box. My Galaxie.......... anyway

I’m going to grab a crites or CRAP bracket to do an alternator upgrade, I assume that leaves me in the same position depth wise on the belts. What have you guys done to add accessories. Right now I just have the single pulley that doubles as a timing device (also strange) do you bolt another pulley to that? Is there a double groove version on this balancer? Cvf racing’s has some Pulleys but I don’t know if ford over the years has different water pump depths or whatever and won’t match early cars.... help me out here lol.

I’m not a total dingus, I’m an A&P mechanic and a long time enthusiast. Just new to FEs.

They used the FE in trucks up to the mid seventy's, find one in a some ones yard, and strip all the front trim off it. You probably not going to find vintage brackets and pulleys. Don't think they even offered AC on the car with that motor.

I don’t think that would work. That would relocate the alternator/generator and my block doesn’t have the alternator hole. It’s probably easier to use the aftermarket.

Would something like this https://www.cvfracing.com/ford-fe-engine-crank-pulley-2v/ bolt onto the existing balancer/pulley assembly? They have a single one too but I figure two extra grooves gives me two bullets because I don’t know what the depth on the classic air compressor is.

And I think they did offer AC for my year but not ac only. I think to get ac you got the works, power steering and everything. Or fords fake use a ram power steering anyway ;)

Note. I just noticed I put this accidentally in swap and trade. If a moderator would move to the normal Galaxie pages I would appreciate it.

March Performance makes serpentine belt kits for the FE. I went the "cheap" way and bought their twin belt system, very happy with the result. The PS pump is from a 70' Chevy and but use my OE type hose. The AC compressor is a Sanden style "peanut" and is hidden down low on the passenger side, allowing me to hide the AC hoses as well.
