If I wanted to convert my roller c4 trans into a 4x4 c4 trans do I just need a different case and rear shaft?

What all will I need?

You need a different tail shaft.
The Rear adapter.

Then I'd suggest the deep pan
tube for EB filter.

Cheap solution if you can't find the tube is to run a Mustang II filter in a deep pan.

My draft notes on my rebuild going from a 2wd to a 4x4 -> http://www.4x4axleinfo.com/fordc4.htm

Cool, so I can keep my case

Now I just need to find a tail housing and shaft, already using a deep pan.

Thanks

find a early BII or ranger. Heres a C5 from one
That tail shaft is different if I remember, however you could run the BII or Ranger T-case...

If you want the Early Bronco Dana 20 T-case, you need the EB C4 parts.

Humm, I didnt know I had more than one to pick from.....

What would be the better transfer to use with a c4 and how do I go about identifing it? I plan on using the vechicle for more of a crawler/ low speed cruiser than a mud bogger.

the only t-case that came behind a C4 was a Dana20 from the early bronco. Then when the BII came out in 83/84 they had a C5 tranny with a 1350 manual and electric.Out of the two the D20 is the strongest, its cast iron where the 1350 is aluminun.

What would a good transfer case be for a c6? And would I just need a new tailshaft and rear adapter for that also?

for the C6 the strongest t-case is the NP-205. You need the short rear shaft and the t-case adapter.now theres two different length shafts,i dont know the lenghts of them, but heres a pic ot the two adapters
