I recently converted my 64 Galaxie from column shifter
to floor console shifter..:D
which turned out being more trouble than you can shake a stick at..:bicker:

You usually can find consoles and shifters on fleabay
and occationally linkage that connects floor shifter to shift lever on the Cruise-O-Matic...
but never the shift lever for a floor shift Cruise-O-Matic....

This is the point where thing starts to get dicey...

On a column shift, when in park shift lever on tranny points down in 8 O'clock position
But on a floor shift it points up in a 1 O'clock position...

So first thought is why not just disconnect lever inside tranny and turn to up position....

It does not work....

First of all it hits the floor...
because lever curves away from transmission...

On floor lever needs to curve in towards tranny in order to clear floor
and move it closer to center of transmission tunnel...

Secondly the ratio will be way off and shift points on indicator at console..
for example, when in park it will indicate R and when in low D1.....

Soo whats the solution???

Buy a shift lever for a floor shift tranny...if you can find one (not)

Buy a retrofit bracket... if you can find one(not)

Or make one your self...
Hours of ,cutting, bending, welding ,trial fitting
and trying to get bends lenghts & ratio correct....:bicker:
So every thing work the way it suppose to..
Neutral safty, Back up switch etc...

SO I'm just testing the waters here to see if there is any interest
in a retrofit bracket...

This is what i have done and if anyone out there is interested in buying..

I can make it and send it to you for $$60 Bucks...

PM me if interested......;)

Thanks Lars....:)

I would have thought more people would have wanted these. About once every 6 months someone is looking for one. Maybe the price is not what they want to pay or maybe they are making their own? I do recall you posting the plans for it.

Seems like a great idea, not having to look for the shift lever to begin with and then have to open the trans to put it in. Unfortunatly it's one of those items you will have to wait untill someone has the need, either converting a coulmn shift car to floor shift or replacing a trans and winding up with the wrong shift lever.
