I put a Detroit locker and 3.89's in my 77 LTD, took out the 2.50's in it and through them away! It made a HUGE difference! It gets some serious traction, and the gears made it alot faster. Did it in the garage in 5 hours, put it in and it works great!
I bought the richmand gears, it is worth it! I raced a 70 Lincoln w/ 365 HP and lost by only a car length. I have only 200 HP Too!!!! It was the Locker w/ the gears

That's a good upgrade.
I have to say that the LTD is a little odd. You don't see many of those hotrodded. But hey. It's all good!

What's delivering the 200hp? I see according to http://www.alldata.com/TSB/771928_en.html
that 5.0s, 351Ws, 351Ms, 400s and 460s were available in those beasts. Now that you see what the gears and traction will do, you gotta pump up the motor! How bout a stroker 460 to put that locker to the test?
