Hey guys! I Have been gathering some parts for my 90 LX coupe. I have located an 8.8 diff out of an 88 GT. I also have a 9inch out of a granada w/4.11 and discs. Would this 9 inch fit (other then fabbin up some mounts) ?? I Also have a chance to have a 9inch narrowed for free if i want. But would axles be too expensive then?? I want this car to be a budget builder for the track...cost and simplicity are a factor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as always!

Budget and track may be opposite terms. Any time you have to gen something up special or machine it special, that makes it one-off and hard to replace if it breaks. Currie makes a great conversion for the 9", not cheap. A more economical way to go is with the 8.8 GT and just change the gears out and put a locker, spool, or add a plate to the stock stack in the trac loc. A really super cheap way is to weld up the spider gears for a cheap spool (race only), look for it to break. I'd be looking at a way to swap those disk brakes onto the 8.8. My $.02.. L8tr, Ron

Thanks Ron, ya the 8.8 sounds the best at the moment. I just want to create a track car to have some fun with and keep my "good" stang for the street.
Thanks for your input!

An 8.8 rear would be more efficient with your HP and putting discs on them are very easy.
