Hello

First post on this forum.

Wanted to know if there are any major differences between the body shells for the Fox Mustangs.

Specifically the coupes.

From what I can see, it appears as if the nose, rear bumper cover, lights, hood and quarter windows changed.

Are the fenders, doors and quarter panels the same from 79-93?

Can the newer body parts be retro-fitted to the older bodies?

Thanks

Just off the top of my head, the rear tail light panel changed in 1983 which makes it easier to install the 83-93 tail lights, the rad support changed in 1990 I am guessing for the use of the air bag sensors, front fender openings and related parts got bigger in 1991 for the use of 16" wheels and the doors changed a bit in 1987 making it easier to install speakers into the lower corner. There are lots of smaller changes as well such as better floor pans in the newer cars, relocated transmission crossmember brackets, different steering rack bushings, front crossmember changes, etc, etc.The quick answer is yes though, the parts from the newer cars will fit on the older ones although there might be minor modifications necessary.I have noticed that there has been a growing demand lately for the older body style particularly the 85-86 ones so you might consider that if you are planning a change.
