After rebuilding the 170 which came in my 62 and reinstalling it I realized I have a problem with the distributor, the engine has a mild cam, headers, petronics ignition in the stock dist. and a Weber carb, of course I didn't know at the time that the stock dist doesn't have mech advance and is designed to work with the stock carb.
I once saw a HEI distributor for sale specifically for 1/4 " drive oil pumps but can't locate one for sale now that I know it's what I need, I hate the idea of reaming the block and replacing the oil pump with 5/16 drive.
Anyone know where I can buy one?
Thanks

Why the HEI and not simply a later non-Load-O-Matic distributor with standard tuneable mechanical and vacuum advance? Add a PerTronix II and hot coil and you'll have as much spark energy (or more) than HEI. P-III if you want multi-spark built-inside. Or use the L-O-M distributor and full electronic spark control module. Lots of options.
