I recently found a rebuilt 390FE and want to swap it into my truck, my truck is a 1965 F100 2WD with a 352Fe and ford toploader trans, does anybody know if it’s direct bolt in or if any modifications are needed? I’m still quite new to this and have only owned this truck for about 8 months, I don’t know a whole lot about these engines either so anything is much appreciated.

What year is the 390?

Early FE engines up to 64 had 2 bolt mounts.
65 and later have 4 bolt but only use 3 of the holes.
If it’s a 65 up 390 it will bolt in.

I’m not sure what it is but I’m pretty sure it’s from later than 65 and thanks for the quick reply.

Acc mounts. pulleys, etc can be the biggest headache. Especially if you have a car engine going in a truck.

Something also to note is there is no AC or power steering in my truck so I’m not a hundred percent if that applies to me but I’ll double check

You can backfit FE's till the introduction in 58. If you have the 4 engine mount bolt pattern as galaxiex said your golden. Keep your original engine for awhile.

I’ll be keeping the engine and rebuilding it soon after I swap it, the 390 is a 1973 from what I can tell

No problem it will fit perfectly with no modifications.
