I'n overhauling a C4 for my brother. I have some help form another trans tech in my shop, but he didn't know what to make of it either. On the pass. side fo the trans there was a switch in a preasure port. I was thinking it was a preasure sender, or a temp guage. it screwed into the vacuum/load valve.

There was no other electronics on the tranny. and he says there was no wires to that switch, and his reverse lights never worked. I thought these still had a Neutral Saftey Switch on the shift linkage at the trans? That should have the reverse signal there? also is the switch that was on the side of the trans aftermarket taped into a preasure tap port?

Thank You!!

P.S. Where do I get a Neutral Saftey Switch, If it is supposed to have one at the trans?

It shouldn't be a race c4, its from a bronco 4x4. having been roaming the earth for 40 years, you never know what 4x4 guy wanted to know his trans preasure, or trans temp?

it's definatly a C4. I was able to find the switch on a website that sold them. I then looked at the tranny, and could definatly see where it bolted up. i confirmed with my brother later that the reverse lights didn't work, and it could be started in gear. looking at the shift shaft, the splines that drive the switch, were so painted over, they were filled in with paint.

So, thank you for all the replies, i'm certain i've got this figured out now. I just wasnt sure if they used saftey switches like that on older vehicles like this, and if the other switch was a factorydeal. looking at that switch, it isn't a trans brake or anything, i'm very certain it is a preasure guage, possibly a temp.

thanks again!!!
