When I bought my Torino, the Performer intake leaked badly. I pulled the intake, replaced the stock gaskets with FelPro, discarded the tray and used a bead of silicone at both ends instead of the cork gaskets. Hasn't leaked since. I believe if you go to Edelbrock's web site, you'll see that they recommend this method as well.

I was running the same setup in my Ranchero. Same engine as you have. Discarded the pan and used a good Fel-Pro gasket with sealant front and rear and have had NO leak problems.

I use Fel-Pro gaskets WITH the valley pan -- just gotta make sure you install the end seals DRY ( no silicone ) . Just a dab of silicone at the corners were the block and head meet . Then make sure to re-torque the intake after the first heat cycle .
